Hi,
Just getting ready to install the GMPP single plane intake on a ZZ383 crate motor. The new intake gaskets are plastic with rubber sealing strips. They also have a couple of locating dowels. It's been a long time since I've installed an intake and always with the composite gaskets. Anything I should be aware of other than the norm? Does black RTV seal okay with this style gasket? Thanks for the input. You never know if you don't ask!

Use Ultra-black silicone in place of the rubber end seals, a continuous 1/4" bead.
Then just a dab on the corners going up about 1/2" onto the gasket.
Other than that, the gaskets get installed dry.
The dowels are nice for keeping them from slipping.

Also - torque the bolts to only 11 lbs/ft. It wont seem like much, but that's what the spec calls for.

Nel,
Fel-Pro has just come out with a new, much improved gasket for the Vortec pattern heads. I think the number is MS98000T, but dont hold me to that. It has a much better seal around the water ports, which is the biggest problem area on the Vortec type heads. You may want to look ito them. I will have a set at the shop on Thursday.

Guys,
Thanks for the replies! I am waiting for a replacement set of gaskets from the dealer. Mine had a nick on one flange. Other than the benefit of the locating dowels, seems pretty much as usual. Bill, I'd appreciate a confirmation on the part number for the FelPro once you get them. Looking forward to getting this in.

Noel Very similar to my set-up - only the cam (VERY similar) and intake will be different. I have the Hot Cam and a Perf RPM. You'll love it!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

After 3 years of it being apart, I am looking forward to the spring when it finally moves out of the garage!
