69 money pit

First off, thanks for the help with the T56 crossmember. Now the next problem, I have an 8" balancer on my 355, the problem is that the balancer hits the sway bar. I'm using stock motor mounts and the sway bar is 1 1/4 in thick. The sway bar looks to be a factory bar, but who knows. I'm at the point of taking a grinder to the sway bar. Any thoughts?

Uhhhh...no. Put the grinder down and step away from the sway bar.......
The largest factory bar was a 15/16" and was on the rare side of actual use. The 1 1/4" bar is actually REALLY big for your chassis and I would consider a smaller bar with the correct front spring.
But how much interference are you dealing with? Something doesnt sound right........

Instead of grinding, you can make some steel spacers to put between the frame and the frame mounts for the bar, lowering the bar. You may need to get longer mounting bolts though depending on how thick of spacers you need to make.

Make sure you don't have a generic 67-69 Aftermarket sway bar. By the diameter you indicate it is aftermarket. The 67 and 68 swaybars are mounted about 3 or 4" further forward in the car and have longer arms on the ends than a 69 and are pretty much straight between the frame horns. The 69 bars are mounted just infront of the spring pockets and go across right under the balancer and would hit it if they were not bent to clear the balancer. They are bent downward about a bar diameter between the frame rails for this purpose.
