I have recently noticed that when I start up my PC here at home I see something new. I have an old pc (1998) win98 1st edition, and when it starts I see all the DOS script. At the end of that part it shows something like this... c:/> but now I also have that and another that has this "tvdumpglags" after it. What is that? I have AVG antin virus and Zone Alarm runnig all the time and it dosen't show I have any virus'. Is this something I should be concerned with?

Might be a 'TVMEDIA' spyware program, run thru these INSTRUCTIONS (http://www.spyany.com/program/article_adw_rm_TVMedia.html) to make sure its not that. You should also be running SpyBot Search and Destroy v1.3 and AdAware on your machine. A virus scanner is not enough.

wow.. a functioing version of win 98..
rare, indeed.
i bought my computer new direct from Dell in Sept of 98, and for the first few years i had to reformat and reinstall win 98 about every 5 months on average for various reasons. then in the fall of '01, i got XP pro, and haven't had to redo it since then.
i am definitely not a power user, and have never had a virus on my computer- even without ANY sort of AV software- but Win 98 would still find a way to screw up from time to time.
what i'm saying is that it might be time to upgrade- a reformat will kill any virus on the drive, and if you get a good version of XP, the computer will be more user friendly.

Download adaware SE, install it, update to current definitions file, restart your pc in safe mode (F8 on boot), run adaware SE in full system scan, delete any found files- reboot!
If your pc is fast enough I'd follow the advice given above and install XP. Windows 98 is full of security vulnerabilities and software glitches, plus it was released almost 7 years ago!
