TH400 woes solved:

Recap- Tranny leaked out of rear vent of the output shaft yoke if I parked up hill. After driving 60 miles, tranny spit out the rear main seal AND the extension housing bearing. All parts mentioned were wrecked by scoring. Why did this happen....

After MUCH research, I learned that my drive shaft is too short! The previous butcher that owned the car was a moron. He was not very careful when he chucked the M22 and tossed the TH400 in. He used a drive shaft that was about 1.5" too short. The reason for the leak: Yoke not sliding far enough on to the output shaft to make a seal over the O-ring. So drip drip out the vent hole even though rear main seal was fine. The reason for the extension housing bearing and rear main seal going south: Yoke not sliding onto output shaft far enough. Since the splines were only overlaping by an inch at best, it allowed th end of the yoke to wobble and work the bearing out and the rear main seal as well.

Solution: new 1.5" longer drive shaft tube, new extension housing, new yoke. OUCH.

Idiot.

The most moronic part of the whole deal is that the idiot threw out the M-22!!!
