looks like a nice car. The new 3 valve v8 produces 300hp. Not bad, my cobra is said to have 320, wonder what the new shelby concept has in store for us? Wish GM would make something better than the SSR and the ugly GTO.

Kind of looks like the latest Volvo. Very similar shape. Can't say I like it or dislike it yet. I'll have to wait until I start seeing them all over the road.

I think Ford nailed it with this design. I hope it sells a ton so that maybe GM will get on the bandwagon.

I don't know. I am sitting here looking at the cover of the new hot rod mag with the new stang on the cover. The front end looks like a remake of the '74-78 mustangs to me. My mustang lovin' buddy, who has owned a number of the '74-78's, said exactly the same thing.

Ford has jumped on the nostalgia bandwagon in a big way. First, we had the Prowler then the SSR. Ford has designed a new vehicle around the original Mustang and it will run. I think they have hit the nail squarely. Now, perhaps Chevrolet will react (again) and design a new Camaro based on the apperance of the Gen I. I like the new Mustang and if I was ready for a new car (sports type), this would be it.

Since we're on the topic of retro Ford's, anyone see the "new" Shelby Cobra?

Lets see, im standing here ready to buy. I have a GTO over here and the Mustang over there.Hmmm, sorry General, call me a traitor but my money is going for the Mustang. GM Wake up NOW! We dont want slow, ugly, crapboxes that fall apart before they are paid off!! Keep designing Rental/fleet cars. I'm done with GM.

We're holding onto the wifes '98 ricer until the new Mustang comes out. When it does we are gonna get the fastest one they will sell us. I really wish GM would get on the ball and build some good looking products that last. I have a 03 Silverado and I'm kind of disapointed (sp) in it.

Have to admit i was relieved when the insurance co. totalled the wifes 00 Grand Am GT(actually she totalled it) we were averaging $300 a month in repairs. Add that to a $390 car payment and high insurance since its a 'sports car.' Fuel pump went, wiper switch, air conditioning thingy, hazard switch, blower motor, water leaks, problem tires from the start(anyone who had this common problem knows what i mean) alarm system liked to go off at random while driving. Tell me why i am loyal to GM again?? graemlins/clonk.gif

Wow, what a bunch of fairweather fans! graemlins/sad.gif I know I'm asking to get flamed by this...but you guys who whine have zero patience!!! Did the Camaro come out and then the Mustang? NO, First the Mustang. Ford had a big lead in the sales arena and then GM spanked 'em, but it took TIME! I think that there hasn't been too many "cool" cars since then, but I think that '07 will prove to be a VERY interesting year for GM! Maybe the General was waiting for Ford to make a big move to see what they're up against. I would like to believe that GM is in the midst of making a comeback in the near future....

I'm with you Dan.

But I have to admit it is nice. graemlins/sad.gif

Come on GM here is your wake up call. It's time for a Nostalgia Camaro.

Doesn't it seem like Ford was just waiting for GM to stop making Camaros?

I love Camaro's, both original and new Mini's, Mustang's, Cobra's, GTO's, Vett's, Cuda's, Charger's, Gremlins and the list goes on.

Cheers to Ford for bring character back to design. Or trying to bring charcter back, depending on your opinion of their efforts.

No comments on the new Chevy concept car? Also interesting is what's under the hood of the Cadillac 16.

The Caddy 16 is nice, but, I think Ford is marketing 'affordability', no pun intended. It is a pretty car, I'd get one.........maybe, my 2003 350Z w/6-spd is a nice go-to-work driver.

John,

I hadn't seen that. Thanks.

First impression didn't knock me over, for a concept car that is. It looks like its an already "toned down" production model.

I watched that show last night called "Rides" and saw the Ford Cobra concept car design process. Interesting show.

Go back and look at that SS concept car again and do this...

1. Cut the roof off.
2. Take off the horizontal grill strip.
3. Remove all badges.

Looking at the car this way.

Does this now look like what the new Ford Cobra should look like? See it?

Curious.

I thought the stang looked like a nissan 280z from the back. Liked the look of the new shelby cobra concept.

One month on Los Angeles freeways and the 4 -speed automatic will end up a wish list. Hopefully I'll go see the SS on Friday. It sure sounds like they just dumped a LS1 in there.

take a look @ the SS concept
from a (read as my) design/engineering standpoint those 2 back doors were forced into the design
too many times I've been forced to add something into an already 'nice and tidy' design

"We weren’t just redesigning a car, we were adding another chapter to an epic," said J Mays, Ford group vice president, Design. "The new Mustang’s modern design speaks to its technical advancement – without losing the classic Mustang bad-boy image." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. ooooh a mustang, how bad-boy lol.

You're right John_Muha, in stop & go traffic, I agree, A/T would be nice. But, here on the 'right Southern coast', its not too much of a problem.

Good luck with the SS, it is a nice looking car!
