got my 406 SBC back for machine shop and doing final fitment before installing, I noticed there was NO Cam break in lube on fuel pump lobe so I looked further into this by sticking long wire down by distributor gear at cam nothing there either. So I went to machine shop to ask and he says I been installing new cams for years and you don't need cam break in lube just make sure you prime engine before you fire it up. This is like the 30yh or so engines I built and always used cam break in lube. Question should I take cam out and lube it or can I get enough lube in by just removing lifters and pushing lube in from there. The engine is completely assembled but I don't removing manifold and even cam or should I take a chance and fire it up as is?

You should be able to lube the cam adequately through the lifter bores, turning engine over by hand so that you completely coat each lobe. You cans also get athe FP lobe and dist gear without removing the cam. If it's a roller cam, EOS or similar should be fine. Follow the cam manufaturers recommendations.

No way would I fire it dry.
