will a hei distributor fit in my 68 rs 327 camaro coupe

Ive always heard this doesnt work but was told it would

If it fit on my big block, I would think it would fit with even more room on a small block.

The HEI distributors fit tight in 67-69 camaro's. In my 67 SB the HEI fits without mod to the firewall but it is tight.

Yes it will, but because it will be a tight fit make sure that your connection block (a large square protrusion from the distributor cap)is close to the 3 o'clock (looking from the front/top)as you can get. That way any timing variations can be easily done without the protrusion hitting the back of the firewall.

I think that "fit" varies on different cars. My HEI required that I "massage" the firewall to get it to fit. In other words, I had to take a hammer to it. I have heard from several other people however that they did not have to modify their fire wall in order to get their HEI to fit. No conclusive data yet as to why some fit and some require the hammer method..

My 69 had an HEI in it when I bought it, and the cap hit the firewall. I did'nt think that was real spiffy.

It will fit without modification to the firewall. Make sure you are pretty close to your final adjusted position though before it goes in.

Mark, I actually have more room between my firewall and the HEI with my big block vs. my small block.
