Hi

I just bought a Holley carb for replacement of my old Q-jet.

I wonder 2 things about this install:

1. Does it matter what vaccum ports i use for the vaccum inlet in the distributer? And can i switch place for the PCV valve to the other valve cover, and should the PCV valves hose go in to the large vaccum port in the Holley as it was on the Q-jet? (many questions in the 1.st question) smile.gif

2. For the electric choke, am i supposed to take one + wire from the fusebox to a switch inside of the car and then from the switch to the solenoid on the carb?

I dont have the instruction manual for the carb. :(

Thanks

Magnus,

The PCV valve hose should connect to the large vacuum port on the back of the carb. I don't think there would be any problem moving it from one valve cover to the other.

There are probably two port for the vacuum advance. One in the side of the metering block that is "ported" no vacuum at idle and the other should be in the base plate on the front of the carb which is manifold vacuum. You can use either for your distributor. Do a search for ported or manifold vacuum to get the information on the differences.

For the choke you need to run a wire that is +12v from the fuse block that is hot when the key is turned on only. Do not run a wire from the coil as this will not be full 12 volts.

I hope that this helps. Good luck with the install.
