View Full Version : How to Determine Your Torque Convertor's Stall Speed sr71bb Oct 9th, 01, 03:40 PM Thought you boys and girls would find this interesting. The is how Stall speed can be determined supposedly and NO I haven't tried it yet!!! http://www.autotransinc.com/stall.htm oger Oct 9th, 01, 03:52 PM That is the only way I know how to do it. lnjstreetrods Oct 9th, 01, 06:48 PM Just thought I would throw this in, once you have determined stall speed and you are running a nonlockup converter and want to get a stall conv, how do you know what stall to select? Most of you likely already know this but here goes any way. Get on the freeway and bring it up to the speed limit and check the RPM'S, get your conv stall around 150 to 200 RPM'S under high way speed. If you get a conv that stalls over that it will waste power, milage, and build extra heat in your tranny. Larry c4boom Oct 9th, 01, 07:02 PM cant you kill a converter by doing this Jimmybyrd Oct 10th, 01, 04:16 PM Sounds like a real good way to break something to me. ------------------ Jim Byrd 1970 350 four bolt, .060, Speed pro hyper pistons, stock crank and rods, '77 vette GM manifold, edelbrock 600cfm, comp magnum 280H cam, '993' 75cc heads, comp springs, manley valves 1.96"-- In 1972 Nova, aka Camaro in grocery getter's clothing. Just don't hold it for 5 min. [This message has been edited by oger (edited 10-10-2001).] |
