I bought a steel collar replacement shaft to go on my oil pump rather than using the old shaft with the nylon piece joining the 2 together. What is supposed to hold the steel collar intermediate shaft to the pump shaft? The two fit tgether however there is no pin to hold it together. THe only pin is at the bottom of the collar below where the key goes into the slot. Maybe a snap ring of some sort as there is a groove on the pump shaft and the key on the intermediate. Didnt come withe shaft if this is the solution.....

Once the oil pump is in place the shaft cannot come out/off. There is no pin or anything to hold it to the pump. Once the oil pump is installed, you can turn the engine upside down on the stand and the pump drive shaft will not fall off/out. No snap ring or anything are needed.

Oh, thanks. I have the engine upside down on the stand right now so I will put the shaft on and try it. I dont have the distributor in so hopefuly I can get the shaft to stay on long enough to install the oil pump. Thanks.
