Did the 67 12 bolt rear end use 4 T-bolts per side, or 2 T-bolts and 1 U-bolt?

2 T bolts and 1 U bolt. It is better to use 2 U bolts if you are not doing a correct restoration.

Thanks BGH. I am trying to put it back to original specs., since it's a survivor type of car.

In case anyone is interested, I bought some of the "reproduction" T-bolts, and they wouldn't even take 35 pounds of torque without stretching. One of them is now 1/4" longer after attempting to tighten it. Two of them snapped. Rick's told me that they have had no complaints from anyone else yet. If you have installed these in your car, I would check them as soon as possible.

Ditto Racer X on mine too!!

I don't remember if I got my U-bolts from the boneyard when I got my '68 Firebird multi-leaf springs or new at a parts store???pdq67

I got a '69 Firebird rear end in yesterday to rebuild and it has 4 T bolts on each side. I think the 12 bolt cars had 1 U bolt and 2 T bolts per side. pdq67, was yours a 10 or 12 bolt?

This Firebird rear end is the 8.2 Buick/Pontiac rear end and it is different from others that I have seen. I have not seen a F body rear end with the eyes cast into the top for the upper controll arms used in the Chevelle, GTO, GS and 442. It also has brackets on each side for factory traction bars. The owner says he has the traction bars and is going to try to install them on his Camaro. I'll post pictures if anyone wants to see it.

12 bolt, SS/RS car.

Seems like I used the (4), '68 Firebird multi spring U-bolts, but broke one and had to get one at a Parts Store.

When I switched springs here recently, I "misplaced" one of the long nuts and had to go all over town to get another one. When I moved my car,I found the sucker under my extension ladder!!! I put the old one back on so it would look right so now I got one shiny extra one... pdq67

My '69 RS/SS 396 had one U bolt and 2 T bolts per side. I replaced the spring isolators on a '69 Z-28 that was the same way. It seem odd that some would be this way and some the other way, but you never know what the factory was thinking when they built these cars.
