I have a 68 with a/c housing anyway, I'm interested in swapping the 350 for a BB 454 maybe, I was looking for some help on things I will need to change or do to make this happen, any info would really help, thanks.

Just some things to start thinking about: You will need to replace your front coil springs, you will need to replace your radiator, I'm not sure about the heater core. you will need new BB motor mounts, and dont forget that once you get this beast rolling, you will need to be able to stop it. power front disk brakes would be very helpfull. your exhaust system will need some modifications. your electrical may need some changes, I'm not sure if the harness changes from a SB to a BB?

These are just a few things to start thinking about. Im sure the other guys will have more ideas.

Not sure if the A/C will be a problem, but you may have to modify it somehow as the BB uses a different heater core & housing. The motor mounts and the frame mounts both will need changed over to BB style. You will also need alt brackets and P/S brackets. (if so equiped) If you go with power brakes, watch the clearance from the left valve cover and the brake booster.

Thanks for everyones help, I quess know I just have to decide, I have always loved fixing up small blocks, but there is just something to be said about the sound of a big block. Any other comments would still be a big help.

If you're still interested, there is an auction on Ebay for a BB A/C housing.

Its an easy decision. Go for the big block. I started with a 327 210HP motor, then went to a 350 300HP, now I am running a 427.

My 68 convertible had A/C when I was running the small blocks. When I swaped in the big block I tried to get the A/C suitcase box for a big block to fit correct, but it did not work. I thought that I would need to replace just the (inner? outer? I don't remember,) box, but the angle of the box made it so it would not seal correct with the stock small block box. It was a waste of $80.00. Plan to take the small block A/C stuff off the car if you put in a big block. Or, find a whole firewall big block unit and brackets, ($$$$). By the way, I covered the hole in the firewall with a stock heater box off of a later model Camaro. I just made a whole in the center of the box to allow the heater core hose reciever to be exposed. I put a rubber grommet in the hole to clean it up a little, and it turned out ok. Its definitely not a restoration job, but it is functional. I don't miss the A/C anyway, it was a pain in the ... to work on the passenger side of the car with it on there.
