I just changed all the fluids in my car, except the tranmission. Anyone know what it takes in normal and synthetic fluid??
Thanks
Mark

Mobile 1 ATF is what has been recommended to me and therefore what I use in my T-56 out of a 1996 Camaro. $5/qt. is not too bad.

I personally have been running Mobil 1 synthetic engine oil in the 10W 30 variety in my T56. I was told by a local Hi-Perf. shop who rebuilds trannys that it is safe. I can say that I have had zero problems running it and the last time I checked it, it was the exact same color/consistency as it is coming out of the bottle. Quite clean.

Factory fill for the Viper T-56 is Castrol "Syntorq" fluid; if you can't find it at the parts store, Dodge dealers who are authorized to sell Vipers have it with a Mopar name and part number on the container.

I am friends with the owner of High Gear transmissions in memphis he said the factory uses 5-30 synthetic
when I put a transmission in one of his trucks he told me to use atf even tough it calls for 5-30 synthetic
it had just been rebuilt so it didnt have any oil in it- I dont think mixing them would be the smart thing to do

On my T-56 it has the sticker for using Dextron III ATF Only.

The Castrol "Syntorq" has replaced both grades of Dexron as factory fill; more heat-resistant, maintains viscosity better at high temperatures. Factory fill specs don't change without a LOT of durability testing.
