I'm a little older so "Radar Love" by Golden Earring. Not really a racing song, but it gets me to "shiftin gear"

And, of course, I can't remember the title but the lyrics go "Buddy gonna shut you down"......

I think one of the best racing songs are "DRAGULA" and "BLACK SUNSHINE" by Rob Zombie. And "FUEL" by METALLICA has to be one of the best!

Good picks everybody! Gotta agree with Sleeper on the Zombie songs too! I'll also throw in "Mean Machine" by Sugar Ray. Yes, that Sugar Ray, but this is from their old album when they used to rock!

"Don't you dare mess with my mean machine!
It's long! And slick! And olive green!
A '68 coupe is all I need!"

I kinda like "Rev on the Red Line" by Foreigner. I think that's the title, anyway, that's how the lyrics go. It's not my "favorite", which already listed, but it's worth mentioning.

I like the beginning of "Hot for the Teacher" by Van Halen. Sounds like a Camaro with the correct cam installed. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif Also "Fuel" is great, esp. since the video features a Camaro. Even thought about that as a license plate. Would that be wrong to have a firefighter plate that says FUEL?

right on jvolk81, i also love that song. the song itself doesn't have much to do with racing, but since its in the opening video to GT2, i always associate it with racing anyways. I love that game, and as soon as GT3 for the PS2 comes out im all over it. Anyways, have u seen the music video to that song? Its a litte messed up but kinda cool. later Jon

Though it's got nothing to do with cars, I think the best racing song is Stone Cold Crazy by Metallica.
Fast and Loud, thats what it's all about. http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

By the way, int the opening to Gran Turismo 2 is that really the Cardigans?
for some reason i always thought it was Garbage. Oh well.

For "old time" hardcore racing songs, you probably can't beat Dick Dale and His Deltones, and their album titled "Checkered Flag".
Another "old time" group with really good songs about cars and racing was "The Super Stocks".
A couple of "newer" (relatively speaking) songs that are great are by Bob Seger. They are 1. Get Out Of Denver, and 2. Nutbush City Limits. Put either of these two songs on and you just CAN'T resist lighting up the tires.

I like "Jailbreak", "Beatin' Around the Bush", and "Burnin' Alive" from AC/DC. "Bad Motorscooter" by Montrose (Sammy's old band before VH) is another good one.

I can't believe I'm the first to bring up that classic Steppenwolf song:

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Gotta go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Thats right-"Born to be wild"

I also happen to love "Little GTO", by Ronnie and the Daytonas.

Little GTO
Your're really lookin' fine
3 dueces and a 4 speed
And a 389
Listen to her tach it up now
Listen to her whine
Come on and turn it on, wind it up, blow it out GTO!

Heck, I'm only 17, 99.9% of my high school has never heard of either of these.
