I checked the bellhousing alignment on my car and it was .020" off center. I want to correct this with some offset dowel pins. The problem is, I can't get the dowel pins out of the engine. It is in the car so I can't get to the other side to hammer them out. I need a way to pull them out. Any ideas?

Yes, you can punch them out if you can get to the other side of the dowels. If the engine is out, this is easy, you can just use a punch and a hammer to get them out, unless I am really missing something easy here. If I am, please point it out to me.
The problem is, my engine is still in the car. I can't get a hammer and a punch to the other side of the dowels. The headers, frame, and the car body are all in the way.
I need a way to pull them out. I have a slide hammer, but I don't have a way to attach the slide hammer to the dowel pins. If anyone has another way to get them out, I would love to hear it.

I got a heavy duty C-clamp and welded a piece of pipe to the end to push the dowel into. Cut off the wobble part at the end of the screw. Cut off the T-handle and welded a 3/4" nut to the end. Now you can push those nasty dowels out with ease. George

Do you have a vise-grip attachment for your slide hammer ? It might work.

stick a vise grip on the dowle, and twist and pull it 'til it comes out. or figure out a really long punch that you can hit from in front of the engine. or drill out the middle of the dowel and tap a screw into it and attach the slide hammer with that.

I got them out. Here's how I did it. I drilled a 1/4" hole through the side of each dowel pin. I then stuck a 1/4" rod through the hole and put a pickle fork (used to remove tie rod ends) under the 1/4" rod. I just hammered the pickle fork and the wedge pulled the dowels right out.
It took me a while to figure it out, but once I tried this, it worked pretty good.
