I am having trouble locating the correct radiator hose for my 68 with a 400 SB. I found a upper that fit after about an hour searching my local auto parts store, but couldn`t find a lower one. any suggestions?

Give NAPA a call, They had upper and lower for my 67. The lower hose had the coil wire inside, to keep it from collapsing. Good luck....... Sonny

Do you have a short or long waterpump?
If it is a short pump get a hose for a '68 smallblock. (A 327 for example.) If you have a long waterpump ask for a '69 smallblock. (a 350 for example.)

The problem is the 400sb I tried all of the camaro hoses they were way off. The motor was out of a 73 caprice. I tried the caprice hoses and they were way off as well. Is there any hoses you can bend that will stay bent that would work.

Try universal rubber flex hoses. I used for both my upper and lower hoses and bent fine. These hoses have a wire on the inside to allow flex and do not collapse.

strange, my 406 has the same hoses i ran on my 350, and i purchased them as being for the orig. 327 that would have been in the car. no problem whatsoever. a short or long pump would be the only issue you would run into, im running all the orig. brackets w/ a short pump, so if you had a long pump, just get a lower for a '69 w/ a smallblock, and you should be good. hope that helps, good luck

Those universal type hoses can actually cause coolant flow problems.

The NAPA hoses fit my 68 with 383 no problem. I asked for 68 SB 350 hoses. I did have to cut them both shorter though. Same with the upper hose. If they're too long they won't fit right. Different water pumps will make them fit a little different, but a 400 is the same as a 350, or a 383 or a 327, etc.

Any small block lower hose will work, just ask for a '68 if you have a short pump, '69 for long pump. The 400 small-block external dimensions are the same as any other small block.

There are several upper hoses available. Measure your radiator core width. If it's 21", you need the shorter hose. If it's 23", you need the longer hose. NAPA carries them, and they are made by Gates.
