Can i replace my original belt driven fan with a electrical fan with 2200-2950cfm of airflow?

I would use the Black Magic #150 fan. That thing brought my engine temp from 190 to 160 in no time! Awesome fan, it can suck small animals through the radiator.

Haha.. Okey. =)

Im thinking of a perma-cool fan, they costs about half the price og the magic fan. And moves air up to 2950cfm aswell.
and lets hope it will last atleast a year =)

Thanks

Please check for static pressure restrictions. Most aftermarket fans are measured for free air (no restrictions). Depending on the design of the fan, the same amount of restriction can have different CFM amounts at the same speed, amp draw, etc.

Toby Keen: I'll guess thats what they mean when they writing e.g. 2200-2950cfm. I guess 2950 is with free air and with a new Optima battery. =)

Thanks

A few things to keep in mind with a HUGE electric fan... Make sure your electrical system can take on the additional current..
It comes from the battery BUT make sure the alt is able to recharge at a greater rate than over-all power consumption..
With fans...the more the CFM is not always better.. If you were to examine a CFM vs. temp. graph you would notice that the temp starts to flatten out after a certain point and any increase in CFM becomes a waste of current..The limitation of the system is really the radiator..the CFM is converted to LFM (Linear Feet/ Minute) based on the total surface area of the radiator in contact with the flowing air. The heat load Q has a specific heat as well as a thermal time constant..associated with delta T (engine steadystate temps of thermostat - ambient temps)..
The greater the delta T the harder you make the cooling system work. Simply put in a smaller thermostat to lower the delta T and your cooling system will work in it's efficient range... If the combustion is makeing a bigger heat load Q ..then you may need to increae the coolant flow-rate.

There's several that I have seen and liked a lot.

The Spal twin 11-inch setup is very nice. It fits a Camaro 23-inch wide radiator core quite nicely with a bit of side trimming. This is the same fan that Be Cool is offering on their new radiator kits.

A factory GM twin fan setup from a 4th gen LT1 Camaro/Trans Am also fits well. One nice thing about this setup is that they can be found used for $75 and replacement parts can be ordered from any GM dealership.

Seems the grand-daddy of them all is a modified Lincoln Mark VIII setup. It can be made to work in a 1st gen but won't look as pretty. There is a lot of information on this fan at http://www.chevelles.com Also, this guy installed one in a late model mustang http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/8408/MarkIII.htm This fan also has the OEM advantage of easy to obtain spare parts.

Each of these should have adequate cooling capacity for most street applicaitons. As mentioned above the charging system needs to be in top shape and use a high-output alternator. There is an explanation on how to install a late-model alternator in the Team Camaro Technical Referance section.

Get the biggest radiator you can fit in the car. It's worth every penny.

I just installed the Spal dual 11" fans with shroud on my Griffin radiator last summer. I think it's the best fan out there.

I got my electric fan off a newer camaro. This way I only buy the electric motor when it burns out (Lifetime of course) and save me some bucks. Sure beats paying 70-100 bucks everytime fan gives out. Just my 2-cents.

Where is a good place to get a shroud for a radiator? I have a '67 Camaro w/ a 3-row core
