I have a newly complete rebiult 355ci (700 miles) in my 79 Camaro with everything else stock. I just noticed a valve clicking coming from the #6 or #8, definately the left side. I can bearly, barely, hear the noise at idle but when I but it in drive and start pressing on the gas it appears. Then if I get of the gas while driving, it goes away, then back again when i am on the gas. It gets louder with rpm- What is it and how can I correct it? Please she is my daily driver. - thanks- Brandon

Sounds like 1 or more valves is out of adjustment...you should check your valve lash.

Brandon,

Try reading the thread below. A couple different ways are explained in the post.

Hope this helps.

Check to make sure it is not a small exhaust manifold leak. Sometimes they sound similar to a valve tick.
just another thought.....

right on, joe g! had the same problem. found out my header gaskets were leaking. new ones fixed it quick. exhaust leak sounds like more of a clacking than clicking. its hard to understand unless you hear it.
