I am thinking hard about buying a Compcams Xtreme Energy 268 cam. Is anyone else in here using this cam? How do you like it? Does it work good with air conditioning?

i've got the 268xe with the 350HO(vortec heads)....it runs good w/ac & power brakes....not too rough. my '72 is mainly for fun.....but the 268xe really comes alive at around 3000rpm....they recommend the springs, a 2400 stall and 3.42's.....it sounds like a mean machine too! get it, you'll love it!

I am real happy with mine except for 1 thing...the idle quality. I wanted a noticeable thump...and with that cams specs it should bump pretty good, but it doesnt. I guess its those "refined" lobes. Pulls like a freight train though, and has a faint lope at idle. Mine will idle down to 550-600 rpms in gear and pulls 14.5" vaccuum, and will rev to 6000, although power seems to drop off after 5500 or so.

turbo 350 with 2000 stall convertor...that may be why it will idle down so far.
