I pre-oiled my engine(305).When you normally do this, should the oil come out of the rockers.I have not put a gauge on it but I can feel the drill load up. Thanks all

you should have the valve covers off and check for oil coming up at all the rockers.

boodlefoof, I do have the valve covers off. There is no oil coming out of any of them. The motor has about 10,000 miles on it. I just put a new cam in it. I have not adjusted the lifters yet, maybe I should go ahead and do that and see what I get. thanks for the help.

are you sure the oil pump is'nt bad? what RPM is the drill motor set at.

Oil should come out of the rockers. It may take a little longer than you would think for oil to start coming out of all of them though. When I preoiled my new engine, oil would start coming out of some of the rockers fairly soon, others would take a little longer.

Are you turning the oil pump clockwise? Are you using an old distributor or a priming tool? If you are using a cutoff screwdriver or something similar, there is nothing in the distributor hole to complete the oil passage that leads to one bank of lifters.

I agree with the previous post... You must have a priming tool that is simillar to a distributor body to get the oil up top... Also you should turn the engine over slowly while priming...

I am using a dist. tool.The oil pump was fine before, I have done this before to other engines, this one just does not have any oil coming out, I have not tried to turn it over while priming but I will tonight,thank guys.
