hello,i have a 74 camaro with small block 350 engine,4:10 (10 bolt) gears that
hums a lot when i ease the thorttle.what should i do please.

sound to me like you would half to reset the back lash that and bigger gears make more noise

Could be a bad wheel bearing or carrier bearings.
The wheel bearings would make a growling noise and if you swerve right and left one side might be worse when more heavily loaded.
The carrier bearings would make a whining noise.
At least try changing the rear end oil, if you haven't done it in a while.

It could even be a bad gear set I bought cheap gears and could never get them setup right because they weren't machined properly.I still use them with the noise for 3 years now and alot of hard passes at the track with no problems except the noise.

If the pinion depth and backlash are not set right, even the best gears will make noise. Resetting the backlash won't do any good if the pinion depth is not right. If the gears have been run more than a few miles it's probably too late to do anything about it anyway.
