Hey. after dropping the pan and cleaning it all out I know that i still havent got any of the old dirty fluid in the converter. So what i wanted to do was change it every few thousand miles, like with my oil, it seems convenient and eventually it'll all come clean I think http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif So.. I wanted a tranny pan with a drain plug. Where could I shop for one online? Or anywhere else for that matter.. I tried an Autozone, those places seem to just carry stock replacements... Thanks in advance..

You can get a kit at your local parts store to put a drain in yours. I've used them before and it worked well. You drill a hole in the pan and install the plug which has a nut and seal that tightens against each side of the pan. I'm sure a welded in drain plug would be better but this is an option. Be careful where you make your hole so as to have enough clearence on the inside for the plug.

Another thought. I've also used one of those drill operated pumps that are mainly used to pump engine oil out through the dip stick hole of inboard-outboard boats. If your fluid is warm you can just about pump your trans pan completely dry.

I put one from TCI I got it out of Summit. Drain plug and holds 2 more quarts and has a thick flange to add stiffness. Works good.

drekkenx,
I had a 72Z that had a plug built into it, not an aftermarket style drain plug. don't know if that was original or not. One caution with the drain plug is you won't get all the shavings and clutch material out of the bottom of the pan like you would if you dropped it to clean it. Lots of pans have a magnet mounted in them to hold ferrous particles for inspection when the pan is removed.
