Until I figure out what I want to do about installing auto meter tach and speedo, what original tach could I use? Can you calibrate them? I know there are a few offered (for big and small blocks) with different redlines and rpm ranges. There is one that redlines at 5500 and goes to 7000 or something. I think its for a 396. Can you use this on a small block?

Theres no calibration (that you can do in your garage anyway)available. The tach will work with any V-8 that still utilizes a separate ignition coil and a point type ignition system.

If you use an original tach and mount it in the dash what are you going to do with your fuel gauge that occupies that part of the dash now? Cars originally equiped with tachs required either the console mounted gauges (in 68 and 69) or a center mounted fuel gauge (69 only).

Does that mean HEI will not work with the original? As far as the fuel guage, I plan on installing the autometer panel and guages in the console. I know you said points style and separate coil and all, but I could swear that I've seen one set up that way.
