: Courtesy Light Application?

Anyone know what triggered under-dash courtesy lights on 69's? The A.I.M. page indicates convertibles only for base car application, and RPO U29 for the option on coupes. My (unmolested original) Z28 has the Z87 Deluxe Interior, but doesn't have (and never had, based on lack of screw marks and no screw threads in the lower dash reinforcement) the under-dash courtesy lights; I would have thought the U29 lights would have been included in the Deluxe Interior package instead of having to order U29 on top of the Deluxe Interior. Of course, mine was built as a Canadian unit, sold new in Canada, and GM Canada may have had unique content requirements that changed the option - it also has the standard seat belt buckles (black plastic) instead of the brushed metal buckles normally seen with the Deluxe Interior package, and they're original too. Anyone know? Thanks!

Under dash lights are plugged into the dome light wiring. There is a plug near the emergency brake mechanism, you just plug into that. It might be orange and white wires, I don't remember.

If I remember correctly, mine were a single prong switch with white wires.

David is correct on the wire colors, orange and white. Mine go down behind the kick panel so I couldn't verify where they connect.

Thanks! Several E-Mails indicated that the under-dash courtesy lights were NOT included in the Deluxe Interior package, and had to be ordered separately as U29; the same notes said that the Deluxe Belts with the brushed chrome buckles also had to be ordered separately and were NOT included with the Deluxe interior. At least now I know that the car is truly unmolested (I have the original shipper copy, and neither U29 or A39 appear on it).
