I just installed an original console clock in my 68. I appears to keep time very well however it makes this annoying buzz about every minute or two. Is this sound normal for these clocks?

It is your clock rewinding itself. I am not sure how much time should go by before it should rewind itself, but 1-2 minutes sounds too soon.

My original clock in the '69 rewinds itself every ~2.5 minutes.

Now I understand what the "quartz conversion" is all about.

So that buzzing noise is normal. I can't believe someone would have been happy after paying to have clock installed in there brand new 68. Thanks for the replies.

Mine really doens't buzz...it is more of a click or ping noise....

Dan, there may be something wrong with your clock. I have an NOS one that, like the other's have said, just makes a "click" every so often. It's only noticable with the engine off and not annoying.

Actually this clock was sitting around for a few years and was seized up when I got it. I freed it up and got it working with some WD 40. Now after running for about 1 week now it seems to be getting quieter during the winding process. It's great when the car fixes itself. Thanks for the replies
