I have an MSD 6AL Ignition Control Box that for some reason stopped working. We were testing the engine when all of a sudden it just simply stopped running and would not re-start anymore. We looked at the MSD box and suddenly there was no spark coming out. We assumed that the box was bad and sent it in to MSD for testing. I got it back in the mail today with a note sying that it tested good. After calling MSD and speaking to the tech, he said that they have an extremely detailed testing facility and everything checked out fine.

While MDS had the box at their facility, we wired the distributor back the way it was without the box and it fired right up without any problems. Before I bolt this thing back in, is there anything you all might know about this that I should check for that would prevent this from happening again. One possible conclusion that we came to was that this thing may have some kind of reset switch inside that may have reset itself when we took it out ( we don't know for sure).

What do you think could have caused this box to stop working and then test fine when shipped to MSD?

mine stopped working completely over a year ago.
I found a bad ground connection.
mine is grounded to the engine (not the body)
after fixing that ground and getting the proper ground stap for my engine to frame It works flawlessly since then.
also keep the MSD box away from heat.
there is a thermal swith in it and heat sensitive electronics in it.
heres the MSD tech forum to help ya further:
