OK, I gotta a problem. My books say that Im supposed to have 1157 lights on the outsides and 1156 for the backup lights and also 1157 for the inner lights. I cant seem to get the 1157 bulbs in the inner sockets. Ive checked this in the books and rechecked it. What gives??? Its a standard camaro. I dont know if any of the camaros were different. How do I get these bulbs in there????

1157 have offset tabs make sure you are putting them in right they will only go one way.1156 the tabs are straight across they will go either way.Look at the sockets for the 1157 and see if they are different, meaning one is lower than the other.

looks like 1156's are supposed to go in the middle and on the inside lights. The books say 1157, but 1156's actually fit. Has anyone else run into this problem.

What is the date code of your car? I don't know for a fact, but I suspect that early cars used 1156 on the inner lights and later built cars used 1157. My car is dated 12B and used 1156. I switched to a rear light harness that I picked up at a swap meet that was in better condition than my original and it had 1157 sockets for the inner lights. Can anyone validate my thinking?

I think the single filament inner light bulb is supposed to be a #67 or 97. The 1156 is a brake light bulb - very bright - and if you use an 1156 the inner would look like the brakes are on all the time. The other numbers (67 & 97) are about as bright as the dim side of an 1157.

THe 1156 bulb is a single element, used for only driving light or a brake light. The 1157 is a dual element. One element for driving, one for braking/turn signal. The inner talight does NOT have a brake/turn function to it, only the outer.

I need to try to track down those 2 bulbs that Dyno John is speaking of. Where do I get the #67 or 97??
