I am still in Korea, but have a friend looking at a 1998 SS T top camaro, red, loaded he said, 66k on the clock, says in excellent shape. Any pointers on what to look for on this model? They want $11,500.
Thanks

THat is a really good price for an SS. I would suggest having him take it to a Mechanic and have them check it out before he buys it.

That car is 7 years old, so the price seems fair. Since the car has t-tops check for leaks. Also, check the wear on the rear tires. If the rears are much more worn than the front, I'm sure this baby did some burn outs.

It's not an awesome deal, it's about a fair price for the year and mileage. It comes down to how well the car was taken care of.
PS LS1 cars haul A$$ from the factory he'll love the SS

Other than the above mentioned, if he buys it, tell him to swap out all the pushrods as soon as he gets it. 98s were proned to bending them (although mostly from driver error).

Dont swap those pushrods outright, they are kind of a failsafe, they will bend rather than damaging valves from floating if you over-rev. pushrods are fairly easy to replace, but bending some valves can be $$ on an LS1.

see if any mods have been done... Ie... air intake changed.. exhaust work.... Check up under the rear quarters for rubber... Also if the coil packs on the Valve covers are missing any bolts... tell tale sign of mods....
It is common to Mod the LS1 cars and then return them to stock to sell.
