got me a 56,000 mile 84 T-type to use for daily driver duties. it better get better than the 14mpg the 94 Caprice cop car gets. here's a pic (hope it shows up)

everything is there and functional. it had a blown head gasket, and has been parked since 93 because of it. the engine was replaced with a longblock of some sort back in 93, and apparently whoever screwed the passenger side head on didn't know how to run a torque wrench- i broke the bolts loose with a 3/8" ratchet and minimal effort. #6 blew a 1" wide gap thru the head gasket into the lifter valley- which causes an obscene amount of white smoke to come out the breather and tailpipes. it's sat at a used car dealer 25 miles from me ever since. 12 years it sat idle because they thought it had a broken piston and were too lazy to check it out. maybe i'll get lucky and head gaskets will make it good to go for about 100,000 trouble free miles...

I have always wanted a gn/gnx/t-type since they 1st came out with the good turbo motor in them. I got to drive a nearly new gn 1 time...impressed the heck out of me. I love the buick V-6's too...very easy to work on, and very durable. I would be concerned about that thing sitting for so long with water in the cylinders though...hopefully the bores are ok and not rusted.

the head gasket didn't blow into a coolant passage- it blew straight into the lifter valley. i shoud take a pic of the head gasket, which i am keeping as a memento. broken parts are cool. no water in any cylinders- in fact, all the bores look brand new. it was a reman long block 12 years ago, and has precious few miles on it. just that some idiot at the reman factory didn't feel like torquing the passneger side head down or using the proper turbo motor head gaskets. the knock sensor was also unhooked, which could have only helped things to go bad. hopefully the head isn't warped and a new set of the proper head gaskets properly torqued down will do the trick. if not, i can always upgrade a few things while the engine is out..

I always did like those cars ! I remember back in the mid-80s a friend and I used to hit all of the new car lots, looking and wishing we could afford a hot car. The Buick dealer here had a lot full of those T-Types !
