Have a 69 with factory AC. It works great, but the fan won't blow at all when the switch is set to high. Also I've noticed that the switch itself is a bit ragged - being a bit tough to move at different times. Any ideas?

I can't help you with the switch...but the fan resistor assembly is located on top of the evaporator case. It is held in with 2 bolt. Pull it out and check for a broken reisistor or connection.

My money is on the switch. All power for the fan runs through the relay, but HIGH has no resistance. Since the relay seems to be operating, the switch is the likely culprit.

Hey 69SS,
If the low speeds are working the resistor pack is ok. the high blower is a seprate circit, some of the early cars had a 30 amp inline fuse on the firewall to the pass side just past center. Sorry I can't remember when they went to high blower relays. If it has the relay it will be on the AC housing under the hood.

My 69 El Camino has both an inline fuse and a relay on the AC housing (fuse in the wire to the relay), so I might assume the 69 Camaro does too.

Well guys, thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to use it. I pulled out of the drive way this morning, got about a 1/4 mile away from the house when I smelt an electrical burning smell. I immediately started turning off AC, radio and headlights. I started to turn around back to the house when I noticed a bit of "light" around the AC gauge panel. Next a bit of smoke creeping up through the defrost vents!!! By the time I got to the driveway, I had a small fire under the dash just above the radio. Got it put out, but not before several AC wires, cables and hoses were melted. The defrost vent has a 3" hole burnt into it and several other wires are melted. Looks like I may be adding a wiring harness to my list of needs.
Any suggestions on the best place to get a new wiring harness?
