I am restoring my 67 RS Camaro with a 327. I recently found an NOS underhood lamp with the single hole and the fuse located near the horn relay. In the 1967 Camaro Factory Assembly Instruction Manual U26 A2 , it shows the lamp facing down towards the firewall. However, the mercury switch for this or reproductions won't work in this direction and must be mounted forward towards the hood latch. Is the manual incorrect? Any suggestions besides the obvious. Thanks for any help.

Most every underhood lamp I've seen by GM has had the bulb facing the front of the vehicle.
