The turn signals on my brother's 77 Camaro have stopped working. They turn on but do not flash. For awhile the problem just happened at idle and would flash on the road. So we replaced the flasher unit and now they do not blink at all. The still do stay on (without flashing). What could other problems be? If there was a bad ground would'nt the signals not turn on at all? This happpens for both left and right signals leading me to think it's not a bulb problem either.

Check the bulbs with the signals on to be sure you're lighting the heavier, brighter filament in the bulbs. If the thinner filament is lit it's probably a ground problem. Turn the parking lights on and then the turn signal. If the light goes out when you put the signal on it's the ground. Most flasher units are designed so they only blink when 2 heavy filament bulbs are on the circuit. That way when they don't blink you know something's wrong. If the bulbs check out ok try another flasher.

Do the 4-way flashers work?
Was the under dash flasher near the steering column changed or the one on the fuseblock?

Thanks guys. I didn't realize that there was a second flasher under the dash. I had only replaced the one on the fuse block. Replaced the under dash and now everything works great.
