Please correct me if I'm wrong, but when I installed this, I took out the voltage regulator, and taped off the wires. One large dia red wire runs from horn relay to back of Delco Alt. I see another red wire running alongside from wire harness behind driver headlamp area and this red wire goes to battery positive lead. Is this right? Anyone know how may amps this alt is?

Yes, thats correct about the wiring. We can't tell you what amperage, it depends on the windings inside the alternator. I myself don't trust the 'dual' 14 gauge wires you'll find running from the horn relay side (second one slices in about 8" in the harness) to the terminal post by the battery. I ran a good solid fused 8 gauge from the battery across to a new power post right above the horn relay and run most off that, Alternator I ran 8 gauge direct from the alt to the battery.
Right now I am retrofitting my 1 wire 12 si 10amp to be a 3 wire instead using a Mad Enterprises ALT-1 kit, should have it finished tonight. This way the dummy light functions and I can still voltage sense at the new power post while delivering the charge directly to the battery itself.

Thanks Brian Lewis:

I don't have a power post above horn relay. It appears red wire comes from firewall to horn relay. In btwn a split occurs and one red wire goes to "batt" of alternator and one red wire goes to positive terminal of battery. Does this sound right. Mechanic I talked to said if your not interested in warning lights only one red from ign to batt of alt is needed. DOes this sound right?
