Can I change the diode on my 67 headlight to key switch on the brown wire or do I have to get the whole harness with diode installed. What I'm asking is can I buy just the diode and solder it in the line and what kind do I need to try to find and where to get it. Any part numbers handy.Mine was pulled in two by accident. Thank's for any help

If you have a Radio Shack or an electronics repair shop nearby you can get one there. What you need is a rectifier diode. It's basically a one-way valve for electricity. Make sure you hook it up in the right direction. Get one that's rated for about 50 volts and 5 amps. Radio Shack sells multi-packs for about $2.50.

a small cylinder with a wire sticking out of each end. It will have a white stripe around one end, that is the positive side.
Radio shack has them, they'll be well marked.

National sells the RS harness for $34.95. It's cheaper to just get a new diode.
