I'M RESTOREING MY 69 RS. THE CAR ORIGINALLY HAD HEADLITE WASHERS. BUT THE PREVIOUS OWNER BUTCHERED THE WIRING AND THE HOSES TO THE WASHER PUMP.I'VE LOOKED AT SEVERAL BOOKS AND MANULS AND TURNED UP NOTHING. I NEED TO KNOW/SEE A WIRING DIAGRAM AND PROPER WASHER HOSE CONNECTIONS. THANKS FOR THE HELP

Glad to share this stuff, it can be confusing with hoses and wires all over.This comes from Steve McCorry on how it all works, a very good outline to print out and use. Click

"The main thing that you need to understand is that the diverter solenoid will not "latch" and requires constant current.
The pump solenoid, on the other hand, will "latch" with just a pulse of current, which puts the pumping cycle in motion.

So......
If you push the washer button and let go, it energizes the pump solenoid, which pumps washer solvent,but leaves the diverter solenoid in the idle state (no current), thereby sending the solvent to the windshield.

If you push and HOLD the button, it energizes both solenoids (the diverter has current) and sends the solvent to the headlights.

All RS's came with a card on the washer switch explaining the operation of this system.

There was enough interest in this to post the assembly page for the squirters. If you guys dont have the Factory Assembly Instruction Manual yet, GET IT. Its wonderful with details on where every hose and wire goes.
