i have a 68 camaro with a 350 and i just installed an msd ignition system. The problem is that after the car has been started it wont shut off. previously i had an hei and it turned on and off perfect. Everything is hooked up correctly and the ignition switch is new. So far this is what i have found out after checking everything
1. the box gets power when the ignition switch is turned to the on position and it doesnt when it is turned to the off position.
2.when the car is running and is in the on position it is getting power(test light lights up bright), but when it is turned to the off position while running it is still getting power, but not as much power(test light lights up real dim).
i have no idea where the problem could be,
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You need to install the diode that comes with the MSD at the alternator or at the voltage regulator. The diode is small and hard to see in the package.

Sounds like you have a back feed. Check and make sure you didnt put any ground wires to power thats the most likely cause.

jhhagop is correct.
The fix to your problem using the diode is outlined in the MSD manual and also online at their website. Had the same thing happen to my Camaro...the diode fix works! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

Pay attention to the "direction" of the diode...It has a white stripe on one end to identify....just follow the directions for correct installation.......
