It has been discussed pretty well. Yes, you will need to drill a hole if you want it to be correct. The placement is critical because of reinforcement on the fender for the antenna. Unless you get the hole REAL close to exactly where it belongs, you could drill into the reinforcement and then your screwed. It's allmost safer to remove the fender. Do you need a new blower motor by chance? Gary Dorion Nov 18th, 02, 06:20 PM My 69 convertible has the antenna on the right rear fender, which was an option. It's a nice change to all the front fender installations. 1 2RUN Nov 18th, 02, 09:05 PM The most used location is on the right (pass. side) front fender. If you want I can measure mine and let you know. It still has the factory antenna. ------------------ '69 RS Camaro 355 5-speed 4.11 Codi Nov 19th, 02, 06:55 AM I have seen and read about antennas that are placed inside the car, usually in the roof. They look like small flat paddles. I don't know if tehy work very well or not. I've seen several on street rods at shows, but never asked how well they work. 67RSM3 Nov 19th, 02, 11:01 AM My boat has an antenna under the dash. All it is are two wires that fan out on either side of the radio. Picks up AM/FM stereo real well without the necessity of drilling holes in it. ------------------ 1967 RS M3 with original 327 2001 Black Z28 convertible impzilla Nov 19th, 02, 02:46 PM I have a factory antenna under the dash encased in rubber hose. Secured and hidden of course.. Sounds dorky but works fine, I get all the major stations no prob. The under dash wire one work fine too. peanut46g Nov 19th, 02, 03:35 PM Thanks a lot guys. I like the idea of the hidden antenna. I'd love to have one of those rather then putting a hole in my fender. Does anyone know where I can get one? |
