I am 34 and I have a 1968 Camaro that was purchased new by my grandmother in December 1967 - six months before she went blind - two weeks after I was born. Parked from then until I was 16. I have had it since, only about 40,000 miles.

40, sounds worse reading it than just saying it! First Camaro was a 74 Z28 type LT bought in 79 from original owner. After that there was a bunch including 69Z, 68Z, 68 RS, 72Z, 69 SS (drag car since 1970), big block SS Chevelle, Nova. My favorite to drive are the 302 cars.

At one time I had the 69Z, 72Z and 74Z and on one memorable Saturday night over 20 years ago ran all three cars against a 455 70 Firebird during the course of the night. I started with the 74Z, then got the 72Z and finally put him in his place with the 69Z. Should've seen the look on his face as I just kept showing up with different cars tht night! Couple months later I took him with my 70 SS 396 Chevelle I bought after selling the 69Z. Great fun.

I'm 34, and I've had my '68 SS for about 2 years now. I bought her for $2500 and drove her home. Since then I've torn her completely apart and replaced both floor pans, one fender, the hood, and the trunk. I've rebuilt both the engine and the tranny and hope to have her put back together and painted by summer.

My first was a 69 RS 4 speed. Bought It in 73 and sold It to buy a new 76. Sold the 76 to buy a new 79 Z/28, had It 2 Yrs. Took a Camaro break and bought a cushy Olds Cutlass.
Bought my 69Z/RS in 88 and sold It in 95, only to buy It back In 2000 and started the restoration. I bought a 93 Pace Car (One of only 20 in Canada)brand new, and kept It four 4 years before selling It with 200 miles on It. I will never sell the 69Z/RS again.

59- Have owned my 69-Z28 less than one year. 72 cheyenne - 17 yrs. Being older than most of you, I can remember buying a 69 Conv. with air for $1200. My wifes 69 coupe with air for $1300. Plus a bunch more at these high prices. Sure glad to see so many younger folks interested in 1st gens. That means they will be around for a long time.

My 1st '68, I owned from 1980 - 1983. I bought it off my Dad, who had owned it since 1972 or '73 (don't know for sure).

I'm 32, I bought the 69 when I was 16, so 16 years now. All through HS I bought sheetmetal, then in 93 I restored the body and interior.
The car has been through 4 drivetrain iterations, from a "economy" 6 cyl/4sp to a 350/M20, to 396/M21. Then after lunching the 396 (drag racing mishap) I built the current efi'd 468 and converted the car to a 4L80E 4sp overdrive automatic.
By far the new drivetrain is the best ever.

I'm 50 yrs "young" and as long as I always own a '69 Camaro I'll always be young at heart. I've owned the '69 Z28 that I have now for the past couple of years. I bought it from a friend of mine that lives about 4 miles from my house. That gives me an idea for a topic titled, "What's the furthest distance anyone has travelled to buy a Camaro?"
