I went to start up my 69 Camaro on Xmas day. All was fine--juice was flowing to the dome light in the car--until I turned the key in the ignition. All of a sudden, all of the lights in the car went out, dome light, instruments, etc., leaving me unable to start the car as well. In addition, the headlights or emergencies didn't work as well.

This has happened in the past, but was always short lived (somehow, the juice could flow again mysteriously after a few minutes). Now my car seems to be dead for good (and no, the battery is new, and I even tried to jump start it to make sure).

So here I sit, a week off for Xmas to play with my car, which has absolutely no juice going from the battery anywhere. Any ideas as to what the problem is and how to correct it?

Have you checked the fuse panel for corrosion? You might need to remove it from the firewall to see if there is oxidation on the backside. Sometimes the connections get messy, just like on battery terminals after a long time and the corrosion inhibits the flow of juice.

Another item to check is the connections to the starter. Same deal- loose or corroded?

Check your fusible link to see if it is still good. It is located in between the battery positive cable and the junction block (located just forward of the battery on the radiator core support, it connects the positive side of battery and the forward light harness together). Try and do a continuity check with a voltmeter, ect to see if there is still good continiuty there. I had this happen a few years ago on my 68 and just went to the parts store and got one for a few bucks. Hope this might help you.

Sounds to me like corroded/loose Battery terminals. Or like Chop said a loose connection on the starter or the ground to the engine block.

try jumping the solenoid at the starter with the key on - make sure the car's in nuetral! maybe the ign switch is grounding.

my best guess would be the starter/solenoid or mabye even the starter. Try a new solenoid, because the old one might be burnt out, or look at it first. For all you know, it might be a loose connection that just needs to be retightened.
