I have done all the regular checks for the sockets(no power when on) but the rear light comes on, just doesn't flash, but does with the hazards??? No problem with the power on the running lights. Any clues to the cause will help in the avoidance of the P.D. rotating JOHNNY LIGHTS factor.
Will respond as soon as possible due to my having to borrow time on a friends computer. Thanks for all the input fellow cruisers.

It could be a broken wire at the turn signal actuator in column. This happen alot with the tilts after several years.

You might want to try a Heavy Duty Flasher. I had a similar problem in my 84, and somebody told me that the grounds throughout the car might be getting a little bit weak, and the heavy duty flasher might cure this problem, and it did. If I'm not mistaken, there are 2 flashers, One for the 4-ways, and one for the turn signals. The one for the turn signals was hidden, and I had to take a small cover off to get to it. I originally replaced the 4-way flasher, because that's the only one I originally saw, and obviously, this didn't get me anywhere. Once I replaced the right one, my problems were solved.

I had to replace the heater core,(what a fricking job that was) and changed the flasher at that time. the blinker problem was before the dash removal. I had also tried to replug harness wires on columb I was thinking along the lines at the actuator myself but wanted a second opinion to make sure before I went into the wheel center. Thanks you tech team members.
I'll let you know as soon as i get into it and see. dgevans

i saw your post and you said the second flasher (for turn signals) was hidden as you say..do you know off hand if this is the case with second gen. camaros as well...i too have a blinker problem on my 79 camaro on the driver side (and it is tilt equipped,so may have ot check the switch in column as well) but would like to know if i may have the hidden flasher dilema and not know it...and of coursei have changed the one in the fuse panel twice (jsut in case first one i bought was defective..stiull nothing)

I would imagine there are 2 in your car as well. But as far as the location is concerned, you may have to do some looking. Mine was under the dash on the drivers side, but underneath a plastic cover. Just prob and poke around a bit, and see if there isn't another one under the dash somewhere.

Once again, my memory is a little bit foggy, but I'm 99% sure there are 2 flashers. Once I found it, I kicked myself for a couple of days, because I spent many, many hours looking for broken wires or bad grounds going to the bulbs.
