mstritt Jul 22nd, 02, 12:53 PM Has anyone installed or known anyone that has installed the new 18 circuit wiring harness from Painless Wiring?
If so, did it work well and was it fairly easy to install?
Calebs67rs Jul 23rd, 02, 03:42 AM I am in the process of installing one right now. It is going well so far. The tech dept at painless has been very helpfull.
mstritt Jul 23rd, 02, 07:51 AM Thanks for the input. Let me know what problems you encounter and how well it works.
68sixspeed Jul 23rd, 02, 09:00 AM I put one in 2 years ago, very well made, under-dash was painless to install, a bit of a pain in the trunk and front end since they don't terminate the light bulbs for you, or supply the sockets, so you have to buy there and splice them in. Also, don't do the mistake I did and sell the old harness without canibalizing it... I forgot to clip off the high beam indicator socket from the old harness... another small item that wasn't included. -Dan
teSSa Jul 24th, 02, 09:31 PM i see that the big store catalogues sell the sockets, but can one get them at autoparts stores still or u guys dont recomend those, originallity is not important to me as function.
Calebs67rs Jul 25th, 02, 04:25 AM Also, dont forget to save the 9 port half moon connector for the turn signals from your old harness, as a new one is not supplied with the kit. I have found that these are not made any more and are very hard to come by. Factory fit has them and wont sell them individually. (Must not want my business in the future). By the way, anyone have one of these laying around?
AAW Jul 26th, 02, 02:20 AM Calebs67rs, of course we want your buisness, but as I told you, we are not in the buisness of fixing competitors products!
Calebs67rs Jul 26th, 02, 06:57 AM Camarocopo, If I ran a business and had a part that someone needed that probably cost 50 cents I think I would sell it to them in hopes of having them as a return customer on a higher end item. Good business practice I would think. I will find the part I need some where, but you can count on me never buying or recmomeding one of your products!
Brad74 Jul 26th, 02, 06:23 PM Several people on this site have suggested www.wiringharness.com (http://www.wiringharness.com)
I personally have not gotten that far on my car yet, I just remeber the name being dropped.
