I'm getting ready to re-wiree my whole 67 Camaro. I also wanting to get rid of the Points ignition and use an MSD ready to run. Will I need to use the balast resistor or should I get rid of it? Also I'd like to use the Blaster SS coil instead of the blaster 2 because of the smaller design. Do I need to use an MSD controb box for that or can I hook it up just like a the regular coil?

Thanks,
Ryan

You do not need a ballast resistor with the MSD dist. I would call MSD about the coil or go to there website. They also have a tech forum on there website. You need a full 12vdc to a MSD dist. You need to get rid of the resistor wire or run a new wire that turns on with the ignition switch. You will not need a msd box unless you get rid of the module in the dist. The box replaces the module.

Ryno, get on MSD's web site they have instuctions listed showing installation of their distributors. I'm almost certain no resistor is needed. As for the coil it will work fine w/ ready to run, it will have to be mounted on firewall or other flat surface. Have one in my 68 looks good & takes up less space.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking that I would be able to run the blaster SS and remove the balast resistor wire. But I figured I'd check here because it's always good to have a place like this and people like you to back a guy up or correct him if something won't work. Thanks again. I appreciate the help.
