I have a problem with the two flat springs that seem to actually hold the signal cam in the right or left turn position. The narrower of the two springs has a tab on either side of the cam that it attaches to. The larger of the springs has two tabs near the ends of the spring and small rectangular holes in the ends of the springs. Do the tabs face toward the inside of the column or toward the steering wheel when it is installed and where does the spring attach. I know it fits into the rear side of the smaller spring but I do not see any tabs for the spring to attach to? I can't imagine that this is giving me such a problem. Should have done a better job of looking at the spring positions when I disassembled it.

I hope I can describe this adequately. I just finished rebuilding my steering column.

If you look at each spring, it had a "V" shape in the middle that makes the "click" noise when you move the turn signal lever. Stand the column upright and look straight down onto the top where the signal cam, etc... is. Make sure you are holding it like it installs - i.e., ingition switch on the right side.

The thin spring mounts on top where you indicated. The "V" points up to the 12 o'clock position. The bigger spring mounts on the underside of two tabs that stick out right underneath the tabs on which the smaller spring mounts. If you look underneath the tabs, you will see a small nub. The hole in the spring fits onto the small nub on each side. The "V" in the spring will point towards the floor (or firewall).

Thank you for the info. I will give it a try this afternoon. It's ashame that I could not find a picture of the set up in all the books I have. I hope I understand your description. The larger spring has two "ears" that stick up. Do they face toward the firewall or up toward the steering wheel? Or, based on my interpretation of your description they would face toward the outside of the steering column toward the ignition switch. Is that what you mean? Sorry for the poor understanding.

I used your info at lunch and have now got everything back together. Thank you for the info. Your description was just what I needed.
