Hi guys and thanks for all the good info. Is there a alternator with higher amp output that can be used with an existing 69 camaro graemlins/clonk.gif wiring system and still retain the external voltage regulator?

I have installed some alternators from Aamp Of America (they get them from somewhere else) but I have ordered them with a standard regulator that looks very similiar to the stock GM ones. They also offer a better model regulator that I believe has an adjustable output like the one I have on my car from Lestek but it doesn't look anything like the factory one (has an aluminum heatsink).
The problem you will have with a larger output alternator is how big and long the wire is from the factory between the alternator and the battery. This will limit how much larger you can go. Yoy may have to change out the 10 gauge to an 8 gauge but you may be able to disguise it by wrapping it or covering it with the split loom tubing.
