Nothing there and have no idea what or why I received it..

As long as you didn't open an attachment, you should be fine :D

Dennis, this may belong in another spot, I'm not sure.
There is a NASTY worm out there right now called SASSER. Trust me on this, update your security NOW.
It took me four hours to get my system back up and running.
The worm will power down your system. When you try to reboot, before your system runs all it's start up scripts, it's shutting down again. It makes it difficult, (understatement) to do any corrective action. For all purposes, you are locked out.
There may be more damaging aspects to this worm that I am unaware of.
Rick.
By the way: I never, ever, open attachments from unknowns and view attachments from friends with professional suspicion. You just never know how this stuff will be packaged.

I didn't open anything except, I think it is called the "mail-box" which didn't have an address to it and sure not any attachment in it..
Thanks. Hope my machine is OK AND I hope they skin the pranksters alive when they catch them!!
NOT gonna do that again!!

My understanding is Sasser doesn't need e-mail to spread, it uses a security hole in your operating system. I have a PC here at the office that is strictly used for office work and it got the sasser worm. the trick is to boot in safe mode with network and them download the security patches and fix. Then run the patches, reboot (stay in safe mode) and run the fix... Without the patches the fix is usless as the worm just crawls back in...

Absolutely correct, Dennis. You CAN'T "get" this new worm through email.
If you haven't patched your system and have no firewall between you and the Internet well, you asked for it. You need to patch your system FIRST, then remove the Sasser worm.
I had a client get hit with this thing on his dial up. Even you dial up guys need to patch and have some kind of firewall installed.
Oh, it doesn't affect Win9x systems.
