I am going form a P/G to an M-20 and want to know what I have to do with the nutural safety switch wires. I did a search but did not come up with the answer I'm looking for. Do I have to use a jumper on the old plug to make the car run?

I'm assuming your working on a 69 since you didnt state what year.
You will either have to jumper the harness or get a clutch pedal activated switch for a 69 with a standard trans.
Heres one on E Pay they been bringing around 100.00.

Thanks Dave. I made a jumper but I haven't started the car yet.

Has anyone fashioned any other kind of NSS? Is this switch available aftermarket? I converted from a TH400 to a 6 speed and need to figure something out. Right now I have it wired on all the time but I need to figure something out.

I think Rick's has them too. Also Ground Up must have them also, but I think they are only available used.

i used a microswitch mounted to a simple bracket that i put so the clutch pedal depresses the switch when fully depressed. over the winter i might add a relay of some sort to take the load off the microswitch.

Guys I have a great lead for you on these switches.
GM was kind enough to use a NSS on the '88 and up Chevy Cavaliers.. Look in these cars at the junkyard and you will find what you are looking for. They bolt on to the firewall under the dask right in front of the clutch pedal arm with two screws and face the "arm" that the clutch pedal is attached to. As you depress the clutch, the metal arm presses the button (it actually looks exactly like a DOOR BELL button) and then the car can start.. Check it out as I think it will work for what you are wanting to do! Simply wire your existing wires running from your NSS harness/plug into this new switch, and you are golden! You even get a GM part number and with all of the Cavaliers out there in the junk yard-I bet you can find plenty of them!
The only thing that comes to mind is that the pedal in our 1st gens might not come close enough to the firewall to depress the switch. If that is the case you may have to fashion a stand that puts the switch closer to the clutch arm, or attach a piece of medal to the clutch arm that reaches the switch when the pedal is depressed.
If anyone tries this method, please post back so that it will be in the archives for others experiencing the same problem to find.

I wondered about making my own switch somehow, but I never thought about using one off another model car. graemlins/clonk.gif
I'll look into the Caviler nss and let you know how it works.
Right now I have the nss from the automatic hooked up to and just laying in the console I was going to some how mount it so it was hidden but I could move the arm to act as kill switch to help prevent some form stealing the car. However, I think its more important to have the safety switch working.
