Trying to fix the radio on my 67, discovered both front and rear orig speakers are dead. Connected an ohmmeter between the two leads, no reading whatsoever. Speaker cones are okay, no rips or anything. Is there any way to repair these suckers? This is the first original 67 rear speaker I've ever seen, shame to throw it out for an ugly repro.

Denis...I needed a speaker rebuilt too. I did a search under "speaker restoration" and found a few that specialize in the 10 ohm ones. The guy that did mine was not too far from me, but I found them all over the country.

Depending on your enthusiasm and craftyness, you might be able to repair the speaker yourself. It depends on if the voice coil is damaged or not.

For starters, if you manually move the cone in and out, do you hear is scraping the magnet? If not and the cone and surround are good, examine the wires for a broken connection.

For example are the wires in tact at the terminal block. What about where the wires penetrate the cone - are they in good condition. The voice coil wires should run up the front of the cone for an inch or so to the point where they connect to the terminal block wires. Do you see any cracking in the epoxy or other flaws that might reveal a bad connection?

If all this is good, the speakers will need to be re-coned. That is what the other responders are referring to. You might search for re-coning on the web.
