I just got my '69 coupe towed back home....I have a dead short somewhere in the engine compartment.It's probably the resistor wire where it meets on the radiator support...
I want to buy a new harness for the engine compartment. Here's what I want to know: How do I tell if I have a "idle stop solenoid"?...Can someone give me feedback on particular brands that they have tried and had success with?! And last...Re-wiring the engine compartment looks pretty straightforward to me. Is it as easy as it looks? Thanks for your help!!!

Hi Dan,

The idle stop solenoid would be mounted on the intake manifold by the throttle linkage. When it operates it pushes against the throttle raising the idle rpm a bit. When you turn the engine off it releases the idle so the engine doesn't run on. Since your old harness is still in place it should be easy to match wire for wire and get everything correct.

Jeff, I think it's Muana Loa belchin' out some sulfer.LOL. I have a guy from the PNWCC coming by to help find the dead short...and then we're gonna rewire the front end of the pig! I hope the thing is running well by the time you guys get over this way...I can't wait to see LV's premium automobiles :cool: I think I'm gonna shoot for a 383 stroker crate...or....a ZZ-4. I have to pace myself...or the wife gets unpleasant...

NAPA has the correct connectors.
they are .250 or 1/4in.
.31 cents a piece.

Yeagh....hahaha JEFF! Seattle Sam, I like that name! your initials are "SS" ... Don B offered to help, but I couldn't wait...I'm missing acceleration in a bad way!lol Last night, I rewired the engine haness, this morning I'm planning on tackling the "forward lamp harness".
My "friend" apparently spliced the elec. choke wire to my fan, and I still don't know where to hook a couple of other wires to... Patience and persistence will help. And yes, we will be at the meeting tonight. I hope your trip went well Sam. (Like somehow going to Hawaii could be traumatic...)
P.S. are those Hawaiian club shirts pink? Just curious...

Those club shirts are multi-color, remember Hawaii is the "Rainbow State".
