Hey guys, just bought a DVD burner not long ago and I got a couple DVD movies that I want to burn. What simple program could I use to do this? Thanks.

Ahhh, a lighter? Pour a little kerosene on them to get them started. Could use a match too.

Sorry, I had too. ;)

Ahh, I have nero. I haven't used it yet, but was just wondering if there are any idiotproof programs out there? And no, I am not an idiot... NT Stevo, lol.

Nero won't copy that movie dvd.
You need DVD X copy, its very simple, it asks for the original dvd, lets you cut the crap out you don't need like extras and french track, and then asks you to insert the blank dvd in the drive to write too.
You can find it at novasearch.net
You'll need ABC Client

I like Clone DVD, never could get DVDXcopy to work properly (copies wouldn't play on a set top dvd player but would on a pc). You will also need some decryption software to duplicate any copy protected DVDs (do an online search for Anydvd).

Nero works well if you are trying to backup a hard disk or make a data dvd etc.

Here is a good read for copying DVDs using Nero. To break the encryption I used DVD Shrink as suggested in the article. I did my first DVD yesterday and it worked. Now, I'm not sure if you can use all DVDs or if you need either DVD+R or DVD-R. I'm using DVD-R because as I was walking around Sam's all the household DVD players said they would play DVD-R, not DVD+R.

Another vote for Clone DVD. Easy to use and I have never had any problems with it.

Well I duplicated my first DVD movie today, American Graffiti :D . It works on the computer, but not on my home DVD player. Could it be because I used DVD+RW instead of DVD-RW? This DVD wasn't encrypted, so I didn't need any of that decription software. Thanks for the info guys.

I think the more compatible format is DVD-R. DVD-RW or DVD+RW discs may not play back on some older or entry-level DVD systems.

Try burning a DVD-R disc and report back.

DVD Shrink is a SWEET app. Freeware that works, rules.

Ahh, ok. I'll buy a pack of DVD-R next and see how it goes. Anyone know where to find that DVD Shrink program? Thanks.

My DVD player (set top) is pretty old and plays DVD+R just fine. The +R format is compatable with more brands of DVD players than the -R format.

Another problem is recording DVD's with DVDxCopy, they only seem to play correctly on a PC (at least for me).

How about copying Playstation 2 games? my kids never pick them up so outside of a month they wont work and scratched all to hell. I could save a bundle if when I bought a new game I burn a copy and them put up the original?
