When wiring a battery disconnect switch is it best to use the negative cable? Can you use the positive cable to do it? If not, why?

Can you use the positive cable to do it? If not, why? Heath dnult Jul 1st, 03, 02:26 PM It doesn't matter which you use as far as electrical flow or circuitry is concerned. But negative is a wiser choice since you won't have to worry about hot wrenches if you were to use the posititve lead instead. -dnult 68rs406 Jul 1st, 03, 10:42 PM dnult is correct, it really doesn't matter to the car where you disconnect. but, its a more common practice to disconnect the positive side, and that is how i would do it. just make sure when hooking up or unhhoking the wires on the switch the neg. cable is off the battery, so you dont get the spark show dnult describes. in fact, if you drag race and need to pass tech, nhra rules state the cutoff switch must be connected to the positive side. hope that helps |
